Education and Admission to Practise Law

Michael Gross has been admitted to practise law since 1984. In addition to his position as the Head of the License Team at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, he has worked at the law offices of Müller Schupfner & Partner since February 2019. From 1984 to 1987, he worked at a law office in Münster, from April 1997 to September 2003 in the Munich office of Andersen Legal (EY Law – Luther Menold) and from October 2003 to January 2019 in Munich Office of Bird & Bird LLP. Dr. Gross studied at the Universities of Münster and Bielefeld and earned his Doctor juris from the University of Bielefeld in 1987. He is a trained mediator (DeutscheAnwaltsakademie- German Lawyers' Academy) and has done additional training in seminars held by the WIPO in Geneva, by Prof. Robert H. Mnookin from Harvard Law School and by Prof. Gary J. Friedman from the Center for Understanding in Conflict, among others. Dr. Gross has been a member of the Round Table Mediation and Conflict Management of the German Economy (

RTMKM.de)  since its founding.  He is also a member of the sounding board for EUCON, the European Institute for Conflict Management in Munich. Dr. Gross advises the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center in Geneva  on the remodelling of new mediation opportunities in the IP/IT field.
